Life In Grey

You breathed life into me, left me gasping for air
Could see the colors of the world again
After living in a world of grey for years

Speaking such sweet surprises of hope
A world where peace can exist
Opening my heart to what you had to offer

Along the way, I fell oh-so-hard
How could I not when you gave me strength to stand
After learning to laugh and smile once more

I couldn't resist the stares that pierced my soul
Nor the light that shined within them
As we shared a private smile

Yet like sand you're slipping through my fingers
Knowing I'm going to lose you
Leaving me whispering the words you'll never hear

Wearing yet another mask
The haven you offered, gone

I'll bear a grin as you make her smile
Hide the heartache as you touch her soul

It'll be just another day
In a world that's returning to grey
